Our Story

We believe in help and support.

Today, the social-economic scenario of the country (having changed drastically from joint-family to nuclear-family system) has forced both the spouses to seek employment to sustain the family. This has resulted in a new set of multi-fold problems faced by aged parents . These problems range from

  • Lack of Security at Home
  • Feeling lonely and isolated
  • Unavailability of urgent help during medical emergency, etc.

One of the biggest challenges faced by senior citizens is social isolation. Many seniors live alone, and their families may be too busy to spend time with them regularly. This can lead to feelings of loneliness and depression. Additionally, seniors may have mobility issues that make it difficult/impossible to remain engage in social activities.

Our Vision

We believe in help and support.

In a society characterized by a high rate of migration, there exists a compelling need to dispel the stigma surrounding the term ‘OLD AGE HOMES’.

Pravakar Mishra, a 72 year old visionary, a social activist ( well known household name in the kingly state region of Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Angul and Nayagarh district) thought differently regarding the very term OLD AGE HOME which creates a negative feeling in the society.

From his long standing public service experience, he deeply felt that the very label “OLD AGE HOME” carries connotations of a place where elderly parents are consigned against their will. Hence to change the perception, he planned an Institutional Care home namely SWARNA ASSISTED HOME .

This was based on wide considerations as learnt from Social media platforms and personal narratives from individuals who have consciously chosen Institutional Care for their elderly parents rather than leaving them in a home environment where there is a lack of adequate care. ( in absence of children) .
